Dennis Schumacher

Dennis J. Schumacher was born on April 18, 1927 in Springfield, MN, the son of Mathias Theresa (Prokosch) Schumacher. He grew up and attended school in Leavenworth Township. Dennis served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952 as a Corporal. Dennis married Marlys Vonderharr on August 6, 1966 in Madison, MN. The couple made their home and farmed near Springfield. Dennis was involved in Leavenworth Baseball since 1941, playing for many years and managed for 12 years. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, serving on the cemetery board for over 30 years. Dennis enjoyed cards, fishing, baking, hunting, making deer sausage, gardening, farming and his grandchildren. Dennis J Schumacher, 79 ,of rural Springfield, MN died on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, MN He is survived by his wife, Marlys of Sleepy Eye, sons; Wayne (Felicia) of Morgan, Calvin (Amy) of Morgan, George (Kim) of Lamberton, daughters; Rita (Blaine) Pyan of Sleepy Eye, Debra (Andrew) Manning of North Mankato, 9 grandchildren, a brother, Fr. Paul Schumacher of Litchfield, MN and sisters, Mary (Frank) Griffin of Minneapolis, MN, Eileen Braun of New Ulm, MN, Margaret Bauer of New Ulm, MN and Monica Clark of Oronoco, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Adrian, Gerald and Daniel, brothers-in-law, Frank McCarty and Victor Braun.
