Dennis Rieck

May 28, 1939 — October 16, 2008

He was born on May 28, 1939 at Springfield Community Hospital to Rudy and Esther (nee Schultz) Rieck. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. He grew up in rural Springfield, attended elementary school at Dotson Country School, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1957. On December 4, 1965, he was united in marriage to Audrey Beyer of Sanborn. Upon graduating from high school, Dennis served with the Army Reserves, drove truck for Melvin Krueger Trucking, and farmed with his parents in rural Springfield. Dennis was active at St. Paul Lutheran Church, served as a Brown County Sheriff's Reserve Deputy, and was a member of the John Watson American Legion Post #257. Dennis and Audrey moved to St. Clair, when he became an independent contractor with Green Tree Transportation of Pittsburgh. In 2001, Dennis and Audrey moved to St. Peter. Throughout his career, Dennis traveled to all 49 states and several Canadian provinces and was privileged to meet many wonderful people. He especially enjoyed trucking when Audrey could join him. Their first trip was to Fairbanks, Alaska. Dennis will be fondly remembered for his ability to talk to anyone about anything, his high standards, and his love for his family. Dennis is survived by wife Audrey of St. Peter; his daughter Jana (Pam Drinkwine) of Roseville; his son Todd (Mary Mellen) of Mankato; his granddaughter Amanda Rieck of St. Peter Fargo, and grandsons Tanner and Hayden Mellen of Mankato. He is also survived by his brothers: Donald (Judy) of Kansas City and Darwin (Joanie) of Seattle and their children as well as numerous other beloved family members and friends. He is also survived by special friends Derald and Susan Mueller of Ringstad, IA, and Ray and Lorna Motley of New Richland, MN Dennis D. Rieck, age 69 of St. Peter and formerly of Springfield, MN died on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the Canon Hospice in Jefferson, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy in 1978 and Esther in 2006.
