Dennis Leo Mattison

Dennis Mattison, age 87, of Lamberton passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2025, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.

Dennis Leo Mattison was born July 23, 1937 in Highwater Township. He was the son of Minnerd and Leona (Quiring) Mattison. Dennis was baptized and later confirmed in his faith at Highwater Lutheran Church. He attended country school and later high school in Lamberton. On February 1, 1959, Dennis was united in marriage to Marjorie Nerem at Highwater Lutheran Church. Dennis and Margie farmed in Highwater Township where they raised their family of one daughter and one son. They were blessed with 62 wonderful years of marriage. Farming was Dennis’ passion. He retired from farming in 1992 and started his own trucking business, Dennis Mattison Trucking. He hauled for area farmers and cooperatives as well as drove over-the-road for several years. He retired from his trucking business at the age of 75. He enjoyed doing work around the farm, especially tasks that involved his skid loader. Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family, attending their athletic events and vacationing with those he loved. Dennis was an active member of the church, serving on the church board and also served as chairman.

Left to cherish his memory are this children–Denise (Al) Clarke of Lamberton and Michael (Donna) Mattison of Winthrop; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Alex) Pankonin of Sanborn and Chelsea (Jason) Stripling of Waconia; four great grandchildren-Victoria and Carson Pankonin and Vienna and Leone Stripling; five step grandchildren-Nikki, Greg, Andria, Brandon and Zac; 15 step-great grandchildren; brother Arlin (Peggy) Mattison; sister Janet (Jerry) Hochstein; sister-in-law Kathy Bergmann (Lee Mitchell); and many other relatives and dear friends. Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Margie; parents Minnerd and Leona; father-in-law and mother-in-law Kermit and Hannah Nerem; siblings Myron and his wife Lois; LuEtta and her husband James (Bus) Engen.
