Dennis Earl Matter

Dennis Earl Matter was born August 20, 1943, to Charles and Ann (Groebner) Matter in Springfield, MN. He attended and graduated from Springfield High School. Dennis was united in marriage to Carol Mattson on December 1, 1962. Carol died June 17, 1977. On July 12, 1980, Dennis married Shirley Duffy. Dennis farmed in Sundown Township and then from 1984-1986 Dennis and Shirley lived in Plainview where he was a milk truck driver. The couple returned to Sundown Township where he was a dairy farmer until 2007 and then worked for Morgan Grain and Feed in Clements. In the fall of 2015 he retired, but continued with hobby farming. He enjoyed dairy farming, horses, to joke and harass people always with a smirk on his face, traveling, and all things John Deere and Ford. Dennis died June 17, 2016 at his home in rural Springfield at the age of 72. He is survived by his daughters - Jean Johnston (Mike Wohlferd) of St. Charles, MN and Holly Matter of Comfrey; grandchildren - Nathan and Andy Johnston of St. Charles, MN; siblings - Delores (Alois) Fink of Fairfax, his twin brother Lennis Matter of Springfield, Vernon Matter of Sanborn, MN, Barb (Milo, Jr.) Christensen of Morgan, Mary Meyer of Buffalo, MN, Diane (Art) Templin of Plato, MN, John (Audrey) Matter of Springfield, JoAnn (Mike) Johnston of Cushing, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Carol Matter and Shirley Matter and a sister Lucille Neid.
