Dennis Leo Schumacher, age 86, of Comfrey, MN, died peacefully surrounded by his family on August 12, 2025, at his home.
Visitation will be on Sunday, 17th of August, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and will continue on Monday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Comfrey, MN. Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:00 am at St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey, MN. Interment will be at the St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery in Springfield, MN.
Dennis was born on July 6, 1939, on the farm by Springfield, MN to Leo and Bernice (Schunk) Schumacher. He attended Wabasso school and graduated in 1957. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann (Sellner) Suess on October 31, 1970. Dennis served in the National Guard for 6 years. After school Dennis worked construction and started farming in 1960, retiring in 2008. He started driving semi-trucks for Arnsdorf livestock in 1968 and after retirement he drove for Farmward. He served on the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery Board and Parish Council. In addition to being a good steward of his farmland, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bowling, going to the races, dancing, driving semi, and having coffee with friends. He took the family on vacation up north for 25 years where he took the grandkids fishing and for ice cream cones. A special joy was playing cards with his family. He tried his best to win but win or lose, it was the time with loved ones that mattered most.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann of Comfrey, MN; children - Pam (Trent) Hoek of Mt. Lake, MN, Cindy (Terry) Kroning of Rochester, MN, Brian (Janis) Suess of Yuma, AZ, Tammy Suess of New Ulm, MN, Denise (Tabor) Hoek of Balaton, MN, and Kim (Bruce) Clement, MN of Butterfield, MN; 10 grandchildren - Jaden, Shadrick, Meesha, Eric, Jenna, Kelsey, Kasey, Kalley, Dustin, and Heidi; 16 great grandchildren; a brother - Dean (Linda) Schumacher; a sister - Karen (Al) Dockendorf; sister-in- law - Mavis Schumacher and nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother - Gary Schumacher.
