Dennis Ralph Kunze was born in Rochester, MN to Louie and Alvena (Heuer) Kunze on May 1, 1946. He grew up in Sioux Valley/Lake Park area and graduated from Harris-Lake Park High School in Lake Park, Iowa in 1964. He then attended Iowa State University. He was employed by Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis for several years before returning to the Iowa/Minnesota area. He began employment with Ron's Electric Motor Repair, Madelia in April 1973 and retired after 40 plus years. On November 25, 1977 Dennis married Jeanette Jean Hoffrogge and the two were blessed with 46 years of marriage together. Dennis valued his family very much, he enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews and spending time with them. He loved woodworking, including carving and furniture making. Trinity Lutheran Church and the church family were very important to him. He served on the Trinity Lutheran Church Council, Properties Committee, Worship Committee, Cemetery Board and church custodian. Dennis set up Trinity Cemetery on computer and submitted all the information to Find-A-Grave, online. He was proud of his 2-finger typing abilities. Dennis also spent time attending and video recording city council meetings, and doing recordings for the local television stations.
Dennis Ralph Kunze, age 77, of Madelia, MN, was called home to the Lord on August 28, 2023, at Living Meadows at Luther in Madelia.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Jeanette Kunze; sister, Andrea Iverson of Eagan; niece, Laura (Ken) Shorey of Rosemount; sisters-in-law, Judy Palmquist of St. James, Josie (Kevin) Lindquist of Medford, Jolene Blekestad, Jill (Ted) DeLaCruz, Janet (Al) Eckstein, all of Madelia; brothers-in-law, Jeffrey (Judy) Hoffrogge of Austin, MN, Joe Hoffrogge of Madelia; grandnieces, Taylor (Alec) Moran of Zimmerman, Emily (Kyle) Dillie of Farmington, Heather (Jensey) Shorey-Olson of Apple Valley; great-grandnieces & great-grandnephews, Madelyn Shorey, Kensey & Bodee Shorey-Olson, Logan & Greyson Moran, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Alvena Kunze; brothers-in-law, Orville Iverson, LeeTierney, Charles Palmquist, and nephew, James Iverson.
Memorials are preferred to be given to the American Diabetes Association or Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
