Dennis Behrends

Dennis William Behrends, the son of William and Rosa (Jass) Behrends was born on March 23, 1930, near Mountain Lake, MN. He received his education at and graduated from the Mountain Lake High School. Dennis was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, and this is where he remained a life long member. On July 10, 1952, Dennis was united in marriage to Rachel Smith at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. After living in Washington DC for three and one halfyears while Dennis served in the United States Air Force, they made their home on the Behrends family farm just west of Mountain Lake. Rachel died on February 7, 1991. Dennis loved farming, and he continued living on his farm after his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, horses, snowmobiling and hunting when he was younger, and he blew snow for many area residents and churches. Dennis' greatest joys were his dogs and visiting his children for coffee on a regular basis. Dennis Behrends, 75 ,of Mountain Lake, MN died on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Dennis is survived by his seven children, Jackie Lindley of Mountain Lake, MN, Denise Marcy of Mountain Lake, MN, Michael and his wife Shirley Behrends of Mallard, IA, Mark and his wife Peggy Behrends of Windom, MN, Roxanne Park of Sioux Falls, SD, Charles and his wife Brenda Behrends of Lakefield, MN, and Robert and his wife Debra Behrends of Windom, MN; sixteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Teichroew of Yankton, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Hewas preceded in death by his parents, William and Rosa Behrends; his wife, Rachel Behrends; two grandsons, Travis Behrends and Marcus Behrends; and a brother, Harlan Behrends.
