DeLyle's family prefers memorials to the Western North Carolina Youth Servant Event with Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mountain Lake. DeLyle Edward Fast, the son of Edward and Gladys (Schmidt) Fast was born December 11, 1954 at Mountain Lake, MN. He received his education at Butterfield Odin High School, graduating in 1973. DeLyle was baptized upon confession of his Faith at the First Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake, and in 1977 he became a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. In 1973 DeLyle started farming with his father. He worked at Earl Schmidt Construction from 1973 - 1975 and Balzer Manufacturing from 1975 - 1977. DeLyle was united in marriage to Luann Meyers on January 15, 1977 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, and they made their home north of Butterfield, MN. In the spring of 1977 he started working for Jim and Marlys Nickel. For the past 32 years DeLyle enjoyed farming with his brother LaRoy and working for Nickel Construction. DeLyle enjoyed cheering on his children during sporting events, camping with family and friends, taking cycle trips with special friends, Raymo and Joyce Hector, sitting around the campfires at home, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute with his grandchildren, family and friends - Family was the most precious thing to him. DeLyle died on Wednesday morning, January 13, 2010 while working on the family farm in rural Butterfield, MN. DeLyle is survived by his wife, Luann of Butterfield; 3 children, Renee Olson of Warroad, MN, Vicki Fast of St. Paul, MN, and Ryan Fast of Brookings, SD; 2 grandchildren, Caleb and Kaitlyn Olson; his mother, Gladys Fast of Butterfield; a sister, LaVonne (David) Jungas of Mountain Lake; a brother, LaRoy (Diane) Fast of Butterfield; 3 nieces and 3 nephews; his mother-in-law, Darlene Meyers of Mountain Lake; an uncle, Alvin (Dorothy) Schmidt of Mountain Lake; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward; father-in-law, Donald G. Meyers; his special cousin, Diane Kirchner; and his grandparents.
