Deloris Rich

Deloris Jane Rich was born on February 28, 1928 in St. James, MN to Louis Bertha (Dallinger) Hoffman. Dee grew up and attended school in St. James. Deloris traveled with her sisters singing, writing and performing music. She married Don Sawatzky on April 26, 1953 in St. James. The couple farmed near St. James where Dee spent much time and raised some of her nieces and nephews. They were later divorced. Deloris married Glenn Rich on July 28, 1977 in Sioux Falls, SD. They lived in Essig, New Ulm, Sioux Falls and St. James. Deloris moved to the nursing home in Truman in March of 2012. She did home health care for several years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in St. James. Deloris enjoyed drawing, music, sewing and art. She is survived by her daughter, Donette Nettie Sawatzky of Sioux Falls, son, Daron Sawatzky of St. James, sister, Eleanor Patterson of Phoenix, AZ and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, Donald, husband, Glen, sisters, Elsie Marth, Bertha Ibeling, Clara King, Mildred Bovers and brothers, Christ, Walter and Harold.
