Deloris "Gwen" Anderson was born on May 20, 1936, at home in Goodman, MO to Lester and Louise (Friend) Harris. Her father was tragically killed in an automobile accident when Gwen was only 3 years old. Gwen's mother worked hard and struggled to care and provide for her family as a single mother. She attended Goodman Public School and graduated in 1954. After high school, Gwen went to work at a restaurant in Goodman for a woman who took her under her wing and prepared her for life. Gwen then went to work at Fort Crowder in Neosho, MO where she met a young soldier from Comfrey, MN by the name of Kelvin Anderson. They were married on March 6, 1957, at her husband's home in rural Comfrey. Kelvin and Gwen were blessed with 8 children and raised their family in town. Gwen worked seasonal jobs at Butterfield Foods and Del Monte in Sleepy Eye and as a waitress at Schutte's Bar and Grill in Comfrey. Gwen then became a nurse's assistant at St. John Lutheran Home for many years and finally as a care attendant at the former Leo Hoffman Center in Comfrey. Gwen had a great love and passion for Elvis Presley and collected all Elvis memorabilia. After retirement Gwen enjoyed traveling, cooking, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Gwen came to live in Springfield at St. John's Circle of Care in 2019 where she continued to enjoy life to the fullest. Gwen went home to meet the Lord on November 26, 2021, at the age of 85. She is survived by her children - Kemo Anderson (fiance Denise Ballman) of Springfield, Tim (Monica) Anderson of Comfrey, Kayla (Terry) Siegler of Spirit Lake, IA, Gina (Rod) Hammerschmidt of Springfield, Darcy Collins of Fertile, IA, and Tess Johnson of rural Madelia; 30 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Kelvin Anderson; sons - Travis and Kent Anderson; brother Arlis; sisters - Montie and Patricia; son-in-law - Timothy Collins; Tess's fianc - Keith Moldan; and a granddaughter - Catherine Hammerschmidt.
