Obituary of Delores Mae Wahlborg Beloved Wife and Mother Delores Wahlborg, 91, of Sleepy Eye, formerly of Detroit Lakes, died on March 26, 2020 at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, MN. Delores Mae (Schaale) Wahlborg was born on January 31, 1929 in Winona, MN, and at age 9 was lovingly adopted by Miriam (Morford) Schulz and Mrs. Schulz's family in Robbinsdale. Delores graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1947. Delores worked as a waitress and later for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 15 years. She married Lee W. Wahlborg on October 26, 1963 at Peace Lutheran Church in Robbinsdale, MN. Delores and Lee owned and ran a Dairy Queen in Minneapolis until 1970. Upon selling the Dairy Queen they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and owned and ran Wahlborg's Rustic Rest Resort for 24 years from 1970-1994. In their retired years, they lived in Detroit Lakes for another 22 years before moving to Sleepy Eye, MN in 2015 to be closer to their son and his family. Earlier in her life Delores enjoyed singing in the church choir at First Lutheran Church Detroit Lakes, reading, playing piano and in her youth participating with the Girl Scouts. She especially loved getting together with friends and family. She is survived by her husband, Lee of Sleepy Eye, MN, son, Eric (Juli) Wahlborg of Sleepy Eye, MN, grandson Lee R. Wahlborg of Sleepy Eye, MN, and step grandson, Andy Schroeder of Owatonna, MN, siblings, Ralph (Gladys) Schulz of Bainbridge Island, WA, June (Roger) Johnson of Fargo, ND, Robert (Corinne) Schulz of Minneapolis, MN, Richard (Joyce) Schulz of Maple Grove, MN, Bill (Karen) Schulz of Bloomington, IL and sister-in-law Barb Schulz of Robbinsdale, MN. She was preceded in death by her mother Miriam Schulz and brother Roger Schulz. Service information will be posted as it gets scheduled.
