Delores May Rans, age 86 of Springfield, MN, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. Delores Rans, age 86, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. Delores May Rans was born May 1, 1921, in Winthrop, MN, the daughter of Bennie G. and Ellen (Lindstrand) Johnson. She graduated from Winthrop High School after which she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN in January of 1943. She taught Typing, Gregg Shorthand and Bookkeeping at Slayton and Gaylord before coming to Springfield where she taught Junior High Mathematics and Algebra. On June 13, 1946, she was united in marriage to Loren Rans at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. She worked at the Springfield Community Hospital office from 1963-1967, after which she taught Typing and Bookkeeping part-time at the Springfield Public School from 1967-1970. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, the CCW, the Springfield Historical Society, a former 30-year member of the Springfield American Legion Auxiliary, the St. John's Home Auxiliary, the Springfield Golf Club and card clubs. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, sewing, playing cards, especially bridge and cribbage, corresponding and keeping in touch with her Swedish relatives, discussing issues with friends and neighbors, reading and spending precious time with family. She also enjoyed her winters in Mesa, Arizona and summer trips to Seattle and the Canadian Rockies. Delores is survived by her husband - Loren; son - Dennis of Seattle, WA; son - Dean of Springfield; daughter - Mary Ellen and husband Douglas Hoffert of Starbuck; grandchildren - Katie Jo and husband Zachary Witt of St. Cloud and Christopher Hoffert and wife Kattie of Starbuck, MN; great grandchildren - Dylan and Talan Witt and Brody Hoffert. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Daryl Johnson and his wife Alma Johnson.
