Delmar Mupp Weston Meyer was born on November 22, 1920 in Sleepy Eye the son of Albert Selma (Johnson) Meyer. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and attended St. John's Lutheran School. He worked with his father doing road construction until he was drafted in 1943. He served during WWII in Okinawa and Guam as part of the 6th Marine Division. He received a Purple Heart while in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Sleepy Eye and worked for Beckstrand Implement Shop. In 1951 he started working as a mechanic at Del Monte and later became foreman of the farm shop. Delmar married Melania Sellner on November 6, 1953. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye and Delmar continued to work at Del Monte, retiring in 1982 after 31 1/2 years. Delmar was a member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church and the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, crossword puzzles, and watching tv. 86 year old Delmar W. "Mupp" Meyer of Sleepy Eye, MN died Thursday, January 11, 2007 at his home in Sleepy Eye. Survivors include his wife Melania Meyer of Sleepy Eye, children, Roxanne (Leonard) Fassbender of New Ulm and Dean (Darla) Meyer of Sleepy Eye, grandchildren, Jennifer Marti special friend Joe Schneier, Brooks Marti special friend Jodi Peterson, Adam Marti and Jeffrey Joseph Meyer, brother, Donald Pete (Catherine) Meyer of Sleepy Eye, brothers and sisters in law, Mildred Baker, Leona Platz, Patricia (Ray) Seifert, Phyllis Westman, Eddie C. (Bernice) Sellner, Rosella (James) Stimpert, Raymond Sellner, Paul (Helen) Sellner, Doyle (Patty) Sellner, Joyce (Gary) Berg, Beatrice (Tom) Koop Louie (Sandra) Sellner. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert (Irene) Meyer, great-granddaughter, Harleigh Marti, sisters-in-law, Rita Seifert and Mary Ann Rodewald and several brothers-in-law.
