Della Mildred Pierce

Della Mildred Pierce was born October 8, 1927 to Oscar and Beth (Catlette) Pierce near Winnebago, MN. She had 7 brothers and sisters as well as 3 step siblings. She lived and worked at various places around the Blue Earth and Fairmont area. She retired in 1996. Prior to moving to Madelia, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Blue Earth. Della moved to Madelia in September of 2011 with the staff and friends from Community Options and Resources. She joined Salem Lutheran church shortly after moving to Madelia. Della loved to do cross stitch, color pictures and make beaded jewelry. She was not fully ready for the day until she had all her jewelry and pins on. Della's first love was sitting outside watching the various birds come and go from the feeders. Even on the warmest of days you would see her sitting on her front porch eyeing the bird feeders. She knew many of the bird varieties by their color. As she sat at the meal table she could see out to the feeders and would announce the birds as they came to visit. Della loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings very much. Della M. Pierce age 88, of Madelia, MN died on August 27, 2016, at her home in Madelia. Della is survived by her sister, Doris Stewart of Fairmont, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters - Emma, Alice, Dolly and Dorothy; 2 brothers - Rolin and Dale.
