David Russell Thorson, at the age of 86, of Sleepy Eye, MN (formally New London-Spicer area), died on September 5th, 2018 at the Oak Hills Living Center of New Ulm, MN surrounded by loved ones. David Thorson was born on October 11th, 1931 in Belgrade, MN to Russell and Pearl (Larson) Thorson. He attended school in New London. In 1952, he was drafted into the U.S Army serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1960. On July 3rd, 1959, he married Harriet (Kuehl) in Belgrade, MN. From this union came two children, Brian and Kimberly. Throughout Davids years, he was a hard, passionate worker. He spent many years doing road construction for Burgess and Dereiter Construction, driving Semi-truck for Ag products in New London, as well as a bus driver for Peterson Bus Company. David also committed his time to his church by taking on custodial services. During this time, David and Harriet built their beautiful lake home on Lake Calhoun in Spicer, MN, where David enjoyed caring for his lawn and flower gardens for 14 years. In 2009, after retiring, David and Harriet made the move down to Sleepy Eye, MN. Here David enjoyed, spending time with family and newly made friends as well as taking pride in the care of his lawn and garden. David is survived by his wife Harriet of 59 years, constant companion Libby, son Brian Thorson (Dennis Bless), daughter Kimberly (Clark) Trebesch, brother Paul (Denise) Wohlin, several nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunt (Ruth) and dear friends, Grandchildren; Craig (Becca) Trebesch, Kelleigh (Ryan) Peterson, Kaitlan Bless, Kameron Trebesch (Andrew Clark), Great Grandchildren; Caleb Oscarson, Evan Trebesch, Jaxon Peterson, Liam Trebesch, Kaslin Trebesch and in-laws, Evelyn Froderman,Vauna Giesler, Alvin (Connie) Kuehl. Preceded in death by his parents Russell Thorson and Pearl Thorson (Wohlin), Stepfather Sidney Wohlin, Sister Bert Haight, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to Allina Hospice - New Ulm, Gil- Mor Manor - Morgan, Sleepy Eye Fire Department or Oak Hills Living Center.
