David John Schumann, age 36, of Savage, Minnesota and formerly of Darfur, died on January 9, 2024, at M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minnesota.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 15, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur. Funeral service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 1:30 pm. Interment will be at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in rural Darfur. A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Darfur City Hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

David was born September 23, 1987, to John and Lisa (Sawatzky) Schumann in Saint James. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Darfur. He grew up in Darfur and graduated from Comfrey High School in 2006. Following high school, David attended the Minneapolis Community and Technical College earning a degree in Screenwriting.
During high school, David worked at Tauer’s SuperValu in Springfield. He also worked as a rug and flooring lead at HOM Furniture, loan closer at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and most recently, as a video editor for Jake Woodbridge Productions.
In 2013, David became engaged to his life partner, Hallie Jenkins and made their home in Savage. One of his proudest moments was the birth of their daughter, Hattie Lynn in June of 2023.
In his free time, David was passionate about film and books and was an avid collector of both. He also enjoyed traveling and experiencing other cultures and cuisine. He passed away peacefully, watching Indiana Jones movies with Hallie by his side.
David is survived by his fiancée, Hallie Jenkins; daughter, Hattie Lynn; parents, John and Lisa Schumann; sister, Mariah Schumann; nephew, JJ Schumann; Hallie’s parents, Terry and Lynn Jenkins; his beloved cats, Jasper, Juniper, and Julie; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Joan Schumann and Harvey and Marilyn “Snookie” Sawatzky.
