David Holkesvig

David Howard Holkesvig, 68, of New Ulm and formerly of Sleepy Eye and Portland, North Dakota, died November 19, 2025 with his family by his side.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. A private family interment will take place at Aurdal Cemetery in Portland, North Dakota at a later date. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in David's memory to your local humane society.

David enjoyed hunting, mechanics, guns, trucking, farming, and playing pinochle. He also had a special place in his heart for animals.

David is survived by his son, Ben Holkesvig; his daughters, Amanda (Justin) Pederson and Amie (Joshua Friesner) Holkesvig; his grandchildren, Ellie Pederson, Zander Pederson, Cory Friesner, Ella Friesner, and Kallan Friesner; and his special grandpups. He is also survived by sisters, Nancy (Greg) Schumacher, Sharon (Chad) Lilleberg and Diane (Rob) Ullyott; and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Betty Holkesvig and his son, Cory Holkesvig.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at NUMC for their wonderful care over the last few years. It truly did not go unseen.
