David John Haycraft, 68, passed away at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis on Thursday, July 3, 2014, after a brief battle with lung cancer. David was born February 10, 1946 in St. James to Gordon and Mary (Madden) Haycraft. He grew up in Lewisville and graduated from Madelia High School in 1965. He attended Saint John's University in Collegeville. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1967 and served until his honorable discharge in 1971. Prior to his retirement in 2011 from the Wellcome ethanol plant, David worked for various companies in Minnesota. David was an avid football fan who enjoyed being outdoors, sitting on his porch, tinkering with electronics and computers, and working on various home projects. He is survived by his daughters, Holly Haycraft of Cottage Grove, Courtney Haycraft of Charleston, SC, Gina (Duncan) Zelkin of Centennial, CO and Mandy Olson of Rochester; son, Eric Haycraft of Watertown; three grandchildren, Jackie Olson, Dylan and Payton Zelkin; brothers, Tom (Sandy) Haycraft of White Bear Lake, Brad (Sandy) Haycraft of Prior Lake, Butch Haycraft of Florence, AZ, Mike Haycraft of Lewisville; sisters, Mary Pat (Terry) Timmins of Urbandale, IA, and Anne Marie (Randy) Olson of Chattanooga, TN; aunts, Catherine Lampert of St. Paul and Elizabeth Giese of Apple Valley; and many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Haycraft; an aunt, Margaret Madden; and an uncle, Jim Madden.
