David Donald Dick

March 25, 1918 — October 27, 2016

David Donald Dick was born on March 25, 1918 in Chinook, Montana, the son of John JM Dick and Susie (Schultz) Dick. When David was 18 months old the family moved from Montana to rural Mt. Lake. David grew up on the family farm went to school at Bingham Lake Public School. He served in the Army from April 1942 until October 1945 and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands. Upon his return he farmed near Lewisville, hauled gas for Mobil Oil for 5 years, moving to the Butterfield area in 1952 and farmed until his retirement in 1979. David and Estell were married in 1945, she passed away in 1987. He then married Fern Haseman in 1996 and she passed away in 2010. David enjoyed woodcarving, raising flowers, golfing, traveling and wintering in Arizona. As a friend of Dave's has said: "We have lost a real treasure." David Dick passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System- St. James. David is survived by his daughter Norma (Ron) Solberg of Downers Grove, IL, step-children; Tricia (Bob) Dittrich of New Ulm, Barry (Nylene) Haseman of Albert Lea, Dean (Kristy) Haseman of Butterfield, 3 grandchildren; Jerry (Corrine) Solberg of Bowling Brook, IL, Barry Solberg of Davenport, IA, David (Brenda) Weaver of Round Rock, TX, 4 great-grandchildren; McKenna Solberg, Cameron Solberg, Stephanie Weaver, David Weaver, 2 great-great-grandchildren; Celeste Youngs, Daxton Youngs, 10 step-grandchildren, 25 step-greatgrandchildren, sister Mary (Willard) Dalke of Reedley, CA, many nieces & nephews to include a special niece Rosalie (Jim) Sawatzky of Mt. Lake. He is preceded in death by his two wives Estell & Fern, son Ray & his wife Lydia, grandson Dan, brothers; John, Fred, Henry, Pete, Willie, Jake, Abe, sisters; Tina, Sarah, Edna and Susie.
