Darrell William Rue was born on November 10, 1918 to William and Esther (Kormann) Rue in Granite Rock Township near Lucan in Redwood County. He grew up in the Lucan area and attended country school. He worked as a farm hand until he was drafted into the Service in 1941 at the age of 22. After 3 1/2 years of service Darrell returned to Lamberton with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. On July 26, 1946 he married Amy Norgrant of Lakefield. The couple lived in Wanda and later in Revere where Darrell graded roads for 15 years and had an egg route for 26 years. He also sold Trojan and Dekalb Seed Corn and retired in 1980. Darrell lived in Revere for 52 years and was a member of the Lutheran Church there; he later became a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton. He was also a member of the Francis Harnack American Legion Post in Revere. Darrell died on Friday, May 6, 2005 at the Valley View Manor Care Center in Lamberton at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his brothers - Glenn and his wife Mary Rue of Lamberton and Dennis and his wife Patricia Rue of Lake Carlos, MN; a sister - Phyllis and her husband Harold Lensing of Marshall, MN; a God Child - Amy Kronback of Blue Earth and many nieces and nephews.
