Darrell Bowers, age 61, of St. James, died on Friday, April 2, 2010 at the Madelia Community Hospital in Madelia. Darrell Dean Bowers was born March 30, 1949 in Fairmont, MN, the son of Harold and Donna (Cottew) Bowers. Darrell grew up on the family farm in rural St. James. He graduated from St. James High School. On January 25, 1969 he was united in marriage to Janine Burke at the St. James Catholic Church. The couple shared 41 years of loving marriage together before he lost his courageous battle to cancer. They lived in St. James where they raised their family. Darrell owned and operated the Bowers Repair and Service Center in St. James. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Darrell loved spending time with his family. He always made time to play with his grandchildren and anything he could do to make them smile. Darrell enjoyed collecting and restoring old cars. He also collected antique farm equipment which he and his friends used to farm a small piece of land. Darrell always loved a good conversation or to have visitors at his shop. Darrell will be greatly missed by his wife, Janine Bowers of St. James; daughter Michelle Matt Friesen of St. James and their children Hannah and Nicholas; son Bradley Jennie Bowers of Lewisville and their children Logan, Louis, and Londyn; son Luke Lindsey Bowers of St. James and their children Addie and Laney; parents, Harold Donna Bowers of St. James; sisters, Darla Bowers and her special friend Mike Mingo of Arizona, and Becky Wellnitz of St. James; brothers-in-law, Bill (Karen) Burke of Arizona, Mike (Jean) Burke of St. James, sisters-in-law, Monica (Howie) Humbles of California, Pat (Dave) Baarson of Truman, Bonnie (Lonny) Watson of Ormsby and Jodie (Warren) Nelson of Ormsby, and many special nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Bowers, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dale Lucy Burke.
