Dale Lee Tellinghuisen

July 16, 1942 — October 30, 2018

Dale Lee Tellinghuisen was born July 16, 1942 in Clark, SD to Sylvester and Fern (Noble) Tellinghuisen, weighing just 3 pounds. He spent the beginning of his life in a cigar box on the woodstove being fed with an eyedropper. Sylvester died tragically in a farming accident when his son was only three months old. Dale grew up near Ocheyedan, IA with dad Larry Ketel, his mother Fern, brother Roger (Sue), and sister Marcia (Joe). Here, surrounded by many cousins, he learned the importance of family. He graduated from Russell High School in 1962 where his passion for sports began with the Russell Bulldogs. He was united in marriage to Pam Kelly on May 9, 1975 in the Lamberton United Methodist Church. They welcomed a daughter Lisa, born July 14 1979, and added to the family when she married Dennis Gustafson and gained several bonus children. Dale's family was completed with the birth of his granddaughter Kaylee, who was the light of his life. Despite not being much of an athlete, Dale had a true passion for sports. He spent many years coaching softball, from ladies slowpitch to mens fastpitch. He was the #1 fan for all of his chosen sports teams, beginning of course with his hometown high school team the Red Rock Central Falcons, and expanding of course to include any teams his nephews and niece were part of, Kaylee's swim team, and then on to the MN Vikings, Gophers, Twins, and LA Dodgers. A dedicated fan to the end, he lived out the 2018 World Series before he could leave this earth. He was preceeded in death by his mother Fern, fathers Sylvester and Larry, bonus grandson Brandon, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He leaves to cherish his memory loving wife of 43 years Pam, daughter Lisa, son in law Dennis, beloved grand daughter Kaylee along with their family. He's also survived by brother Roger (Sue) Ketel, sister Marcia (Joe) Breisler, nephews, nieces, and several cousins.
