Memorials are preferred to Relay for Life or the First Presbyterian building fund retirement. A celebration of his life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, St. James 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013. Visitation will be held Monday from 5-7 pm at the church. Visitation will resume one hour before the service. Burial with Military Honors will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, St. James. Donald Frank Jessop passed away on Friday, Jan. 18 at home in St. James. He was born March 7, 1928, in Elbow Lake, MN, to James Howard Jessop and Minnie Ottava (Erickson) Jessop. He moved to Madelia at the age of three where he attended school until he joined the Navy, serving two years in the South Pacific. On September 24, 1949 he and Lavonne Bonnie Taylor were married in the First Presbyterian Church, St. James. Frank owned and operated several shoe repair stores and served as Chamber of Commerce manager but most of his years he worked for ST Industries, first in etching then in advertising and sales. After retirement in 1992, he drove truck for Paul Nelson and cars for Olson Motors in Madelia. Frank was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as an elder and volunteer handyman. He loved his family, camping, driving, spending winters in Alabama and his yard and garden. Frank is survived by wife, Bonnie, three children: Steven Taylor Jessop (Patty), Susan Rae Finnestad (Steven), and Sarah Patti Becker. Grandchildren Matthew Jessop (Annie), Wade Jessop (Cari), Patrick Estes, Michael Finnestad, Ross Finnestad (Angela), Bethanie Olson (Tyler), Jesika Watton (Mike), Max Becker, Jami Becker, Katie Becker, 14 great-grandchildren, and sisters, Harriet Lucas, Janice Kollman, Ione Hodapp, and Judy Dahm. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: Donald Lloyd, Robert, Howard, Charles, Delvan, and one sister, Barbara, parents-in-law, Winfred and Laura (Duryea) Taylor.
