Cyril Steffl

January 31, 1934 — August 26, 2005

Cyril Thomas Steffl was born January 31, 1934, in Clements, MN, the son of Sylvester and Philomena (Matter) Steffl. He attended St. Raphael's Catholic School and worked on the family farm. Cy then began his well-drilling career and owned and operated Minnesota Valley Well Drillers in Prior Lake while working locally. He brought the business back to the Springfield area in the early 1970's and owned and operated Steffl Well Drilling until his retirement in 1995. He entered St. John Lutheran Home in 2002. Cy was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and Minnesota Water Well Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, boating, snowmobiling, driving, visiting with friends, playing his Gizmo, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Cyril Thomas Steffl died Friday, August 26, 2005, at the Springfield Medical Center at the age of 71 years. Survivors include wife- Carol of Springfield; children- Cheryl and husband Lowell Lang of Springfield, Mike and wife Roxy Steffl of New London, Sandy and husband Greg Wille of Lamberton, Kay Steffl of Springfield, Lori and husband Jeff Brown of New London, and Tom and wife Lee Steffl of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers- Lowell and wife Angie Steffl of Comfrey, and Sylvester 'Jim Steffl of Starbuck; and sisters-in-law- Alice, Mrs. Don Steffl of New Ulm, and Carmen Devereaux of Littleton, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents; son- Steve in 1991; grandson- Lucas Steffl in 2003; brothers- Don and Kenneth; and sister-in-law- Dorothy Steffl.
