Curtis Feil age 62, of Mountain Lake, Minnesota died unexpectedly on October 3, 2021, at Windom Area Healthcare. Service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church-Mountain Lake, on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 3:30 pm. Visitation will be Saturday at the church beginning at 1:30pm until service time. The clergy will be Pastor David G. Fretham. Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mtn. Lake, Minnesota. Curtis Robert "Curt" Feil was born on November 5, 1958, in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, to Robert and Marilyn (Ibeling) Feil. He attended Mountain Lake Public Schools, graduating in 1977, then attended Minnesota State University Mankato graduating in 1982 with a degree in Construction Management while also continuing to work with his father and uncles at Feil Brothers' Builders. He returned to Mountain Lake to work as a boiler operator at Land O'Lakes and then as a die caster at Toro. One spring afternoon, he met Brenda Dubbels, a new teacher in town, while he tended his garden in the backyard of his parents' rental where she resided. They married on August 13, 1983, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Northfield, Minnesota. He was baptized, confirmed, and a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mountain Lake, serving as a Sunday School teacher and Youth Group leader. He also served as a leader of the Loyal Lakers/Carson Climbers 4-H club and was a member of the county 4-H board. As an athlete, Curt enjoyed football and basketball, but his real success came as a runner. He had an outstanding running career in high school cross country and track, setting numerous records while competing on several State qualifying teams. Also, competing at the collegiate level at MSU, he was a member of a national qualifying cross country team. Known for his quick-wit, keen sense of humor,and being fashionably late, Curt found enjoyment in enthusiastically following his children's sports careers (especially track), spending time with his beloved grandchildren, gardening, raising chickens, hunting, fishing, varied building projects that didn't always get finished, and in recent years, watching Gunsmoke and other old western shows. He carried on the tradition of cooking, that ran in his family, specializing in his dad's oven-baked chicken and his special chocolate chip cookies. Curt passed away on Sunday evening, October 3, 2021, at Windom Area Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Feil, of Mountain Lake; his son, Reid (Haley) Feil of Jeffers and daughter, Kaitlin Feil of St. Louis Park; grandchildren: Maverick, Kutler, Bridger, BrynLee, Bexley, and Bellamie; his mother, Marilyn Feil; stepfather, Leroy Peterson; his siblings: Blake Feil of Mountain Lake and Alison (Dean) Christians of Bloomington; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, aunt, uncles, and parents-in-law.
