Cordella M Soukup age 94, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on October 27, 2018, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, MN. Cordella was born on February 1, 1924 in the Soukup farmhouse in rural Sleepy Eye to Charles and Amelia (Ruffing) Soukup, sharing her birthday with her fraternal twin, Adele. Cordella attended District #27 Country School in rural Sleepy Eye and graduated from St. Marys High School in Sleepy Eye in 1942. After graduation, Cordella made her home in St. Paul and had a long career working for the Federal Land Bank. She returned to Sleepy Eye after retirement to be close to family. Cordella enjoyed crocheting and traveling. She found a hidden talent for painting during her years at Divine Providence. She was deeply committed to her church and faith and held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. Cordella is survived by her sister, Joan Portner of Sleepy Eye; nieces and nephews, Nancy (John) Wolf, Joyce (Bill) Kuehn, Cindy (Keith) Scheid, Dean (Stacy) Goblirsch, Thomas (Mary) Portner, and Mark (Lisa) Portner; great nieces and nephews, Jayson (Kaitlyn) Wolf, Megan and Noah Scheid, Kyle and Kayla Goblirsch, Boston, Sabrina, Isabella, Crystal, and Sophia Portner, Rachel, Jared, Dustin and Blake Portner. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Gregory Soukup, twin sister, Adele Goblirsch, brothers-in-law, Edwin Goblirsch and Harold Portner, and nephew, Thomas Goblirsch.
