Cleo Hildreth

April 3, 1910 — July 22, 2006

Cleo Irene Hildreth was born April 3, 1910, in Storden, MN, the daughter of Soren and Hannah (Halvorson) Jensen. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden. Cleo graduated in 1928 from Storden High School and was united in marriage to Arthur Hildreth on December 31, 1930, at the Old Westbrook Parsonage. The couple lived and farmed in Cottonwood County until 1933 when they moved to the Lamberton area. Cleo worked at Klegel's Dry Goods, Miesen's and Super Valu for many years. Following Arthur's death in 1965, she moved into the apartment above the grocery store. She retired at the age of 75. Cleo became a resident of Valley View Manor in February of 2006. She was a former member of Sharon Lutheran Church, served on the Ladies Aid as president, and was also a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Eastern Star, a Worthy Matron, active with the ambulance association, president of the PTA, and a volunteer for the Wabasso Food Shelf. Cleo was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was the first woman on the Council Trust Fund! Cleo enjoyed cooking and baking. One never went away from her home hungry! Her specialty desserts were banana cream, lemon meringue, and key lime pies. She was entertained many evenings by the Minnesota Twins and high school basketball games. Cleo loved being with her family and friends. Cleo Irene Hildreth died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Valley View Manor at the age of 96 years. Survivors include son- Ray and Jeanette Hildreth of Lamberton; grandchildren- Cindy and David Moldan of Lamberton, and Sandy and Terry Middendorf of Rosemount; grandchildren- Christopher, Daniel, and Matthew Moldan, and Brooke and Nicole Middendorf; godchildren- Roane Mattison and Debra Redman; sisters-in-law- Monica Jensen and Cleo Jensen Olson; special friends- Ruth Churchill and Arlene Harvey; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Arthur; brothers- Bruce, Woodrow, Ivan and Joseph Jensen; half-brothers- Peter and Hans Jensen; and half-sisters- Minnie Martens and Myrtle Miller.
