Clarence Tomschin

Graveside Service: 9:30 AM, Saturday, August 05, 2006 at Springfield City Cemetery in Springfield, MN Clarence Tomschin was born August 11, 1922, in Bashaw Township, Brown County, the son of Walter and Minnie (Elsing) Tomschin. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II as a construction engineer building the Burma Road. Following his honorable discharge, Clarence worked at the Ford plant in Minneapolis. He attended a G.I. school to learn the dry cleaning trade and was united in marriage to Dorothea Miller on September 25, 1948. In 1951, the couple returned to Springfield to farm and raise livestock. They retired in 1992, and moved into Springfield. Divorcing his wife after 47 years, Clarence found new hobbies such as bingo, going to Jackpot Junction, fishing, and visiting his grandchildren. Clarence Tomschin died Monday, July 24, 2006, at his home in Springfield. Survivors include sons- Douglas and Amanda Tomschin of Clinton, MN and Steve and Marchell Tomschin of Wilsall, MT; daughter- Lori and Al Scheeler of Kingman, AZ; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; brothers- Louie and Phyllis Tomschin of Alden, Walter Tomschin of Springfield, and John and Mildred Tomschin of New Hope, MN; sisters- Minnie and Ralph Holmberg of Minneapolis, Viola and Merlin Miller of Maynard, and Alice and Dennis Shumway of Heron Lake; brother-in-law- Leonard Wersal of Owatonna; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers- Charles and Ben Tomschin; sister- Dorothy Wersal; and sister-in-law- Margaret Tomschin.
