Clarence Nasman

Clarence Nasman, 92, of St. James died on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society in St. James. Memorial services will be 10:30am, Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church rural St. James with Rev. Kathleen Ulland-Klinkner officiating. Burial will be at East Sveadahl Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Monday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James and at the church one hour before services on Tuesday. Clarence Daniel Nasman was born March 21, 1924 on the family farm to parents George B. and Esther (Peterson) Nasman. Clarence grew up on the family farm in Riverdale Township where he lived until his health forced him to move to Brandt Ridge and then Pleasant View since July 2015. Clarence attended Rural School District 16 through the 8th grade and graduated from St. James High School in 1942. Clarence was a lifelong member of East Sveadahl Lutheran Church, he was baptized in 1924, confirmed there in 1938. He married Jeannette Paulson on August 26, 1951 at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. Clarence farmed his entire working career, first in partnership with his brother John and after he retired he assisted his sons when they took over the farming operation. He served on the East Sveadahl Church Council and LaSalle Shipping Assoc. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cross country skiing, riding snowmobile, and league bowling with friends. Clarence competed in area antique tractor pulls. He loved to spend time visiting with family and friends to include inlaws and all 43 nieces and nephews and their families. They all meant a lot to him. After they retired, he and Jeannette enjoyed vacations together. He is survived by his wife Jeannette Nasman of St. James, sons James (Lorita) Nasman of Madelia, George (Maureen) Nasman of St. James and their families, Sisters-in-law; JoAnne Chambard, Joan Paulson, brothers and sisters-in-law; Armand &Dorothy Paulson, Warren & Kristine Paulson, brothers-in-law; LaVern Paulson, Dean Mason and 43 nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents George B & Esther E Nasman, brothers; Winton, John, sisters; Vivian Jensen, Celeste Nasman, Dorothy Sorensen and Florence Spitzer.
