Early in her life, Clara gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized in Gospel Mennonite Church. She graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1934. Clara had one year of German Bible School and one year at Mankato Teachers College. On June 11, 1937 Clara married Jacob F. Schultz. Together they farmed southwest of Mt. Lake. Besides farming, they worked for many years with the Okoboji Bible Conference in Iowa. Jake and Clara were very committed in the four places they worshipped during their lives, Gospel Church, Evangelical Free Church in Windom, Good Life R.V. Park in Mesa, AZ where Clara developed and directed the choir, and Alliance Missionary Church. She also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School as well as being a church librarian and pianist. Clara was active in the Gideon Auxiliary and, for a few years, was president of the Willing Workers Mission Society. She loved cooking, experimenting with new recipes, and serving her food in a fastidious manner. In her later years, in Arizona, Clara took up painting. Clara and Jake retired from farming and moved to town in 1983. They enjoyed their extensive travels, going to Israel and other countries. On May 3rd 1999 Jake passed away after 62 years of blessed marriage. Four years later, Clara moved to Parkwood Place, then Eventide, and finally the Good Samaritan Village attaining the age of 97.
