There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday. Clara G. Schroepfer was born March 27, 1904, the fourth of 16 children, to Christ and Marianna (Schagel) Sellner in Albin Township. Clara attended country school and then St. Mary's Catholic School through 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Clement Schroepfer on June 22, 1926, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple farmed in the Sleepy Eye area for the first years of their marriage and then resided in Sleepy Eye. Clem and Clara celebrated their 62nd Anniversary in 1988. Four children were born to their marriage: Mary (Richard) Schroeder, Clement, Jr., Cletus (Ardis), and Marlyn (Ruth). Clara worked at Del Monte during the canning season and did cleaning at various Sleepy Eye businesses. An avid seamstress, her love was to sew for the children of the Guatamalan Mission and the North Dakota Indian Mission. Clara's flower garden was another pride and her bouquets graced many church services and special events. She was famous for her Grandma's Garlic Dill Pickles, her corn candy and fudge. Clara loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with her husband to various states. They also traveled to Hawaii and Germany. She especially enjoyed visiting her grandchildren in Florida, California, Texas, and Washington, D.C. Clara was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Church Guild, and Christian Mother's Society. Clara G. Schroepfer died Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye at the age of 104 years. Clara is survived by sons- Cletus and wife Ardis of St. Peter, and Marlyn and wife Ruth of Bella Vista, AK; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; sister- Anna Hacker; brothers-in-law- Jerome and Arlene Schroepfer, Vesty and Pearl Schroepfer, and Harold Johnson; sisters-in-law- Agnes and Edwin Tauer, Rosella Hillesheim, and Dorothy Sellner; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clement; son Clement, Jr.; daughter Mary Schroeder; granddaughter baby Schroeder; sisters- Angela, Martha, Bertha, Katie, Tillie, Mary, and Amelia; and brothers- Clement, Christ, Jr., Edmund, Albert, Leonard, Bill, and Florian.
