There will be a VFW Auxiliary service at 6pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Clara Mary Laux was born on November 12, 1910 on the family farm near Comfrey, MN, the daughter of John Katherine (Sieg) Laux. Clara lost her mother when she was 3 years old. She and her siblings maintained the family home and worked the farm with their father. She attended rural school near Comfrey and parochial school in Leavenworth. As a young woman she enjoyed neighborhood house parties and barn dances. There she met her future husband. She married Wilbur Hudson on July 11, 1931 in New Ulm. To this union 5 children were born. They made their home for a brief time in Truman and Comfrey and then Sleepy Eye area where they lived the rest of their lives. Her family and home were Clara's life. She enjoyed her many flower beds, their huge gardens, cooking, canning and sewing for her family. Wilbur Clara took many fun fishing trips with their family and close friends. They spent many evenings playing cribbage. Clara continued being a sharp card player, even winning at Thirty One on Christmas Eve. Wilbur Clara had almost 60 years of marriage together when Wilbur died on Jan. 11, 1991. Clara then made her home with her son, Dennis. In recent years Dennis became the constant caregiver carrying out her wish of remaining in her own home until death. Clara was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Sleepy Eye. She attended faithfully until the past year. She still spoke of going to church. Each night she prayed for her children and their families. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Clara M. Hudson, 97, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at her home in Sleepy Eye, MN. She is survived by her children, Dennis of Sleepy Eye, Elva Fiedler of Goodridge, MN, Joyce (Joe) Neid of Sleepy Eye, Karen (Jim) Ziegler of Farmington, MN, 5 grandchildren, Joel (Alda) Fiedler of Las Vegas, David (Patricia) Christiansen of Waxahachie, TX, Sue (Shane) Hinderman of Sleepy Eye, Troy Ziegler of Plymouth, MN, Brian (Michelle) Ziegler of Elko, MN, 8 great grandchildren, Brady, Blake Natalie Fiedler, Dane Christiansen, Jacob Rebecca Hinderman, Corey Cameron Ziegler, sister-in-law, Emma Hudson of St. James and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Wilbur, infant daughter, Marilyn, brothers, Ed Raymond Laux, half brother, Henry Laux, infant brother, Roman, sisters, Lucille (Frank) Risse Leona (Roy) Kelley, sons-in-law, Dale Christiansen Eugene Fiedler and sister-in-law, Marcella Laux.
