Cynthia Basmoen of Hanska, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Mayo Clinic Health Care System in St. James. Funeral services will be 11am, Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Albion Lutheran Church, rural St. James, with Rev Robert Springer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Covid safety protocols will be followed to include wearing face masks and social distancing. Cindy Basmoen was born and raised in Minnetonka Mills, MN. At age 16 she moved to Hopkins, MN and graduated from Hopkins High School in 1968. After graduation, Cindy worked for Thermotech Industries. Cindy met her husband Tom in the Twin Cities and they married on 11/24/1969 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Tom and Cindy moved to LaSalle, MN for two years. Cindy worked at Tony Downs Food in Butterfield during this time. Tom and Cindy then moved to Fairmont where they lived for five years. After this time, they permanently moved to Godahl, MN to live on the family farm. Cindy held various jobs over the years including Tony Downs, Jubilee, The Hickory Inn, The Village Inn, LaSalle Meat Locker, and various cleaning jobs. In her spare time, Cindy enjoyed fishing, visiting the family cabin, making baked goods with friends, doing puzzles, serving on the Godahl Recreation Board, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson. Cindy loved spending time outside and tending to the many plants on the farm. Cindy is survived by husband Tom Basmoen of Godahl; daughters Cheryl Deming (Dan Christensen) of Evan, Christine Basmoen of Godahl, Connie Basmoen of Golden Valley; grandchildren Seth Basmoen (Destinee Strand) of St. James, and Cori Deming of Mankato; great-grandson Liam Basmoen of St. James; Siblings William (Kathy) Wiborg Jr. of MN, Susan (Raymond) Helmer of Eden Prairie, Laurie (Joe) Poulmann of Eden Prairie, and sister-in-law Vickie Wiborg of Chanhassen; Sister-in-laws Vickie Basmoen of Richfield, and Debbie Myer of Mankato; Brother-in-law David Basmoen (Linda) of Lakeville; and many nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her parents, father and mother in-law, daughter Cathleen, brothers Tom and Mick, and grandson Wyat.
