Christine Diedrich, the daughter of John and Crescentia (Fischer) Diedrich was born on October 19, 1913, at Princeton, MN. She received her education in St. James, MN, where she graduated from the St. James High School. Following graduation she worked at Schmidt's Bakery in St. James. On May 4, 1942, Christine was united in marriage to Alois Ollie J. Spitzner at St. James Catholic Church in St. James. They made their home and farmed together on Alois' family farm until retiring and moving into St. James in 1979. Alois died on March 4, 1992. She was an active volunteer in many areas including her church and 4-H. Christine enjoyed sewing and cooking, caring for her farm animals, gardening and canning, and she loved being with her grandkids. Christine is survived by three children, Larry and his wife Kathy Spitzner of St. James, and twins Donald Spitzner of St. James and Dorothy Spitzner of Mankato, MN; four grandchildren, John Spitzner, Brian Spitzner, Rebecca Spitzner and Amy Spitzner; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Mary Conroy; and four brothers, Ed, Lawrence, Clarence Bud and one in infancy.
