Christine Ann (Wiken) Nordby, 68, of Odin, passed away on March 31, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Saint James, surrounded by friends and family.
A Celebration of Life may be held at a later date.
Christine was born January 28, 1957, to Donald and Irene (Timm) Wiken at Madelia Hospital. Chris was baptized and confirmed at Albion Lutheran Church in rural Saint James. On April 17, 1982, she married Michael Nordby at Albion Lutheran Church.
Chris worked at Trimont Hospital, Pleasant View in Saint James, Mayo Clinic in Fairmont and Saint James as an RN. She loved what she did and was a caretaker beyond the scrubs. Chris really cared about her patients.
Faith was an important part of Chris’s life, and it showed in her actions and her love of singing. Anytime Chris knew Lyla Klee was preaching, she would want to attend, because of Lyla’s faith in the Lord, her energy for life and that Lyla baby-sat her when she was little. She was diagnosed on January 23, 2023, with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Chris continued to work after her diagnosis and chemo treatments until May of 2024. She put up a courageous battle, always had a smile on her face and did not complain. Chris enjoyed traveling to different states, especially Oregon to visit family. Chris loved her family, children and grandchildren, including Molly the dog. Chris enjoyed walks, time spent with friends, John Denver and Lori Line music, working in her garden or just being outside by the fire ring, watching Touched by an Angel and Wheel of Fortune and thrifting. Chris talked about riding horses in her younger years and her horse was Spice.
Chris is survived by her husband, Michael; son, Zachariah (Holly) Nordby; daughters, Chatrina Huddleston and Michaela Nordby; grandchildren, Bjorn and Odin Nordby and Aubriana and Leila Huddleston; sister, Cindy (Keith) Brekken; aunt, Celeste Benge; nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Irene Wiken; in-laws, Reuben and LaVera Nordby; niece, Heidi Brekken Craig; and several aunts and uncles.
Thank you for all the PRAYERS, thoughts and visits.
One of Chris’s favorite sayings was, “DO YOUR BEST AND PRAY THE REST!!”
