Christine Nelson

Christine M. Nelson was born August 19, 1919, in Springfield, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Wenisch) Turbes. She was united in marriage to Earl on April 22, 1953 in Springfield. The couple farmed for 9 years north of Essig and raised their three children. Christine moved to Sleepy Eye with her children following Earl's death in 1966. She worked at Al's Bakery, Sleepy Eye Hospital, Sleepy Eye Care Center and Divine Providence. She was known for her wonderful cooking and baking at the nursing homes. Christine loved to garden, play bingo, and, going to the movies, playing card; and watching the MN Twins which she faithfully followed. She also loved her family dearly and enjoyed many adventures with her grandchildren. Christine died on Sunday, September 14, 2014, at the Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye at the age of 95 years. She is survived by her children - Sandy Domeier of Sleepy Eye, Lori (Tod) Klotz of St. Peter, and Steve (Beth) Nelson of New Ulm; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers - Arnold (Dorothy) Turbes of Springfield, Lawrence (Darlene) Turbes of Springfield; LeRoy (Charlotte) Turbes of Kandiyohi; and a brother-in-law - Andy Vogel of Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Earl in 1966; brothers - Peter, John, Bernard, and Albert; and sisters - Eleanor, Cecelia, Marie, Sally and Agnes.
