Cheryl Joan Bjoin

February 21, 1947 — January 5, 2017

Cheryl Bjoin, 69, passed away on January 5, 2017 after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Cheryl was born on February 21,1947 in Crookston, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gardner and Ethel Bjoin. She is survived by her sister Bonnie Sprague, nieces Kathy (Patrick) DeLaPointe, Lorrie (Douglas) Collison and Beth(Jerry) Hunter. She is also survived by dear friends who were her extended family Elizabeth Fait (Eirik Rennan and family), Katherine Fait Bakey (Tom Bakey and boys), Elvia Rivas (and family) as well as many friends and beloved pets. After graduating from Crookston High School, she attended the University of Minnesota and obtained a Masters Degree in Library Science. She worked at various libraries including Crookston and Cambridge before settling in Butterfield in 1990 where she was the head librarian for Watonwan County. Cheryl traveled to places such as Europe, Africa, Mexico and South America. Cheryl was well known for her love of animals. She had several dogs but her first, Animosh always had a special place in her heart. As the president of the Watonwan County Humane society, she was involved in finding forever homes for many dogs and cats. Cheryl was very civic minded and was involved in the community including being a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Watonwan County Humane Society or Watonwan Library.
