Charles J. Huiras

Charles J. Huiras age 85, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on August 6, 2022, at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Charles J. Huiras, age 85, of Sleepy Eye, MN formerly of Leavenworth Township departed this earthly life on August 6, 2022 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. He was greeted in heaven by his mother, Virginia and embraced by his father Celestine who he met for the first time. Charlie's father passed away suddenly one month before he was born. Charles "Charlie" Huiras was born on May 14, 1937 in New Ulm, MN to Celestine and Virginia (Legare) Huiras. Charlie lived in Leavenworth Township for most of his life where he helped on the Huiras' farms. He also worked at Del Monte for many years doing lawn care maintenance and yard services. He was a member of the Church of the Japanese Martrys in Leavenworth. Charlie enjoyed spending time with friends, activities with Adult Day Services Program and day trips to explore the many beautiful regions of Minnesota. He is survived by many cousins and friends. Charlie's goal was to maintain independent living as long as possible. We are grateful to Sleepy Eye Area Home Health Services who supported Charlie at both Ross Park Apartments and Country Side Assisted Living. Their care made this goal possible. Special thank you to the staff of Sleepy Eye Care Center and Allina Hospice that provided comfort for his end of life journey.
