Charles 'Bill' Danger, age 85 of Saint James, Minnesota died Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in Saint James, Minnesota. Service will be held at the First Lutheran Church in St. James, on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 10:30 am with Rev. Maggie Cumings officiating. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery in St. James with full military honors provided by the St. James Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, St. James and will continue on one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Charles (Bill) William Danger was born in Minneapolis on October 18, 1931, Bill was the son of Alice (Sorenson) and Ralph Danger. The family later moved to Clements and Amboy before coming to St. James in 1941. Bill was a graduate of St. James High School and Hamline University. Following college he returned to become actively involved in the family grocery business. On July 12, 1964, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Shervheim in Kensington, Minnesota, a union blessed with 3 sons. Bill entered the Air Force in 1952 and served four years active duty. He continued in the Air Reserves for thirty-five more years, before retiring on Oct 18, 1991, with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Always an avid reader, Bill enjoyed history, especially military history. His special interests were time spent at the family cabin, hunting, aviation, and bird watching. For many years Bill was a member of the Rotary Club and served the Boy Scout organization in various capacities. His interest in Scouting began in his youth and continued throughout his life. An Eagle Scout himself, he took great pride in his three sons attaining the Eagle rank. Left to cherish the life of Bill and the many ways his life touched theirs are his wife Ruth Ann; sons Scott (Kim), Paul (Sara), Mark (Sarah); grandchildren Sydney, Maia, Nicholas, Burgan, Ingrid, Irelin, Greta; brother-in-law Myron (Ardys) Shervheim and sister-in-law Ruthie Shervheim. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bob; his parents-in-law Ruth and Lewis Shervheim; and brother-in-law Lloyd Shervheim.
