Charles and LaDonna Mikkelson

Charles and LaDonna Mikkelson, of Madelia, Minnesota, died July 22, 2025.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia. 

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia. 

Madelia Area Veterans Honor Guard will provide Military Rites immediately following the funeral service. 

Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Willow Lake Township, rural Sanborn, Minnesota.

Charles was born January 3, 1942, to Melvin and Nina (Frederickson) Mikkelson in Madelia, Minnesota. He graduated from Madelia High School in 1961. Following high school, Charles served in the U.S. Army. He worked at Tony Downs Foods in Madelia for many years until retirement.

LaDonna was born September 1, 1949, to Herman and Hertha (Guggisberg) Zimmerman in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. She graduated from Wabasso High School in 1967. LaDonna worked as an office administrator for 40 years at Madelia High School.

On June 17, 1972, Charles and LaDonna were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Sanborn, Minnesota. Together, they raised one son, Daniel.

In their free time, Charles enjoyed reading Westerns and watching the Minnesota Twins and LaDonna enjoyed baking. Most of all, they both enjoyed spending time with their family and especially time spent with their three grandchildren.

Charles and LaDonna are both survived by their son, Daniel (Diane) Mikkelson of New Ulm, Minnesota and their 3 grandchildren, Alex, Tyler, and Lauryn Mikkelson.

Charles is further survived by his siblings, Cheryl (Phill) James, Barb Schmid, and Terry Mikkelson and many nieces and nephews.

LaDonna is further survived by her sister, Janice Braam; brother, Merle (Becky) Zimmerman; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Corey James; brother-in-law, Ken Schmid; and sister-in-law, Tracy Orn.

LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters in infancy; brother-in-law, Don Braam; and niece and nephew, Julie and Tom Goblirsch.
