Cathryn Batalden

June 2, 1916 — December 4, 2014

Cathryn Jean Batalden was born to Duncan Ed and Catherine (Malloy) Sinclair on June 2, 1916 in Wabasso, MN. She was baptized at Knox Presbyterian Church in Wabasso. She graduated from Wabasso High School and Mankato Teacher's College. She then taught for five years at McCloud County and three years in Clements. While she was teaching in Clements she met and married Leonard Batalden on April 11, 1941 in Osakis, MN. The couple lived in Lamberton their entire married life where they were active members of Sharon Lutheran and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She was a participating member of the Lamberton Reading Club for 70 years. Over the past two years, Cathryn lived in Richfield, MN. at The Pines, to be closer to her family. For many years Cathryn enjoyed her husband's roses, being involved in church and community activities, the Lamberton Reading Club, her church circle, playing Bridge, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Cathryn is survived by her children - Janet (Dennis) Johnson of Bloomington, MN, Carol (Thomas) Luukkonen of Eden Prairie, MN, John (Mary) Batalden of Plymouth, MN, and Mark (Patty) Batalden of Burnsville, MN; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Leonard in 1994; sisters - Evelyn Welcome and Iris Welch; brothers - Floyd, Donald and Douglas Sinclair. Memorials may be made to MOCA (Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance) or Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton.
