There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. Catherine (Kate) Wenisch was born May 29, 1912 to Michael and Margaret (Ubl) Kastner in Stately Township, Brown County. She attended country school district #71 and St. Raphael's Catholic School. She was a life time member of St. Raphael's Church, St. Ann's CCW, and Catholic Aid Association. On October 18, 1933 she married Martin Wenisch at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on October 18, 1983. They farmed in Burnstown Township and lived on the same farm for 56 years until moving into Springfield in August 1989. Kate enjoyed gardening, raising flowers - her favorite were pink roses - and doing craft work and making quilts for her family. She also worked with the craft ladies at church. Kate died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 96 years. She is survived by her daughters - Darlene and husband Don Jahn of Redwood Falls, Diane and husband Jim Becker of Fairfax, and Debbie and husband Chuck Johnson of Sherburn; 8 grandchildren- Dawn Benage, Darla Coonrod, David Jahn, Danette Johnson, Jayne Becker, Paul Becker, Scott Johnson, and Sara Johnson; and 5 great grandchildren- Dalton Benage, Dillynn Benage, Tasha Jahn, Devan Jahn, and Emily Johnson. Kate is preceded in death by her parents; husband Martin in 1991; infant daughter Audrey Ann in 1938; brothers - Joseph, Albert, Louie and Michael; sisters - Edith, Margaret, Louise and Anna.
