Catherine Oanes, age 65, of St. James died on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System-St. James. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am, Saturday, December 31, 2011 at St. James Catholic Church in St. James. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in St. James. Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2011, at St. James Catholic Church from 4:30pm until 8pm with a 4:00pm rosary scheduled. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church on Saturday. Catherine Cathy Julia Tiell was born on February 27th, 1946 to Gustav and Julia (Sandmeyer) Tiell in St. James, Minnesota. She died suddenly on December 27th, 2011 at Mayo Clinic Health System in St. James. She grew up in St. James and graduated with the St. James High School class of 1965. On November 16th, 1968 she was united in marriage to Jon Oanes at Waverly Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota. Together they had three children, Michael, Melissa, and Matthew. Cathy was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church. She was employed by Tony Downs and Armour-Eckrich where she was currently employed. She was an avid gardener and very proud of her flowers and vegetables. She also enjoyed quilting, camping, baking, spending time with her sisters, volunteering at church. Most of all she enjoyed spending time her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Jon Oanes of St. James, children, Michael (Heidi) Oanes of Owatonna, Melissa (Ryan) Waterbury of Fairmont, Matthew special friend Rachel Erdal of St. James, grandchildren, Alysha, Sawyer and Haley Waterbury, Alexis Oanes, sisters, Maryann Myers of St. James, Margaret (Bill) Davis of Mankato, Stephanie (Jerry) Daberkow of Lakefield, sister-in-law, Enid (Don) Anderson of Lake Crystal, brothers-in-law, Dean Oanes of Alden, Peter (Lorraine) Oanes of Pittsburg, PA, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, brother Gustave and brothers-in-law Ron and Jim. Visitation 4:30 pm - 8:00 pm Friday, December 30, 2011 St. James Catholic Church 707 4th Street S.
