Catherine Nielsen

Catherine Ann Nielsen, age 74, of San Diego, CA, formerly of Winnebago, MN, died on Tuesday, May 10, 2011, in San Diego. Catherine Ann Nielsen was born in Winnebag, MN, on October 1, 1936, the daughter of Knud Alta ((Orbell) Nielsen. She grew up in Winnebago graduating from High School in 1954 and Hamline University with a Nursing degree in 1957. Following graduation, she and a group of college friends enjoyed working in the resort town of Brainerd, MN. She then moved to Mankato where she established the first intensive care unit. She later moved to San Diego, CA, where held a number of responsible jobs. She worked at both the University and Veterans Hospitals. She is survived by her daughter, Christine McNally, granddaughter, Sophia Agoot, her sister, Helen (Russell) Ensey, cousin, Ray (Nancy) Orbell, and other family members Donna (Vern) Lende, Don (Cindy) Gerder, Patty (Mark) Thompson and other relatives in the Chicago area.
