Catherine Joyce Blackstad

Catherine J. Blackstad age 79, of Sleepy Eye, MN, died on February 23, 2021, at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Catherine "Cathy" Joyce (Olson) Blackstad was born on February 22, 1942 in Madelia, MN to Joy and Ellen C. (Hewitt) Olson. She graduated from St. James High School and completed her education at Northwest Institute of Medical Technology. Catherine married Edward Blackstad on September 16, 1962 in Butternut, MN. She worked at BIC, formerly Norwood Printing, from 1973 until her retirement in 2002. She enjoyed photography, caring for her dogs, and loved spending time with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. Catherine is survived by her son, Peter Blackstad of Sleepy Eye, MN; daughter, Stacy Blackstad of Eden Prairie, MN; 5 grandchildren, Marcus Blackstad of Monticello, MN, Kierra Blackstad of Los Angeles, CA, Elsa Hauschildt of Minneapolis, MN, David Blackstad of Alexandria, MN and Greta Hauschildt of Eden Prairie, and sister, Ruth (Bill) Davini of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joy and Ellen Olson, and husband, Ed Blackstad in January of 2020.
