Carrie Schenk

Carrie Schenk, age 90 of Delavan, MN formerly of Sleepy Eye died on Sunday, June 15th, 2008 at Parker Oaks Nursing Home in Winnebago, MN. Carrie O. Christiansen was born on September 19, 1917 near Evan, MN in Prairieville Township the daughter of Martin Marie (Peterson) Christiansen. She grew up and attended country school in Prairieville Township and was baptized on November 18, 1917 and confirmed on May 24, 1931 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Evan. Carrie married Ervin A. Schenk on April 30th, 1937. From 1964 to 1978 Carrie worked as a Dietary Aid for the Sleepy Eye Hospital. Ervin preceded her in death on July 18, 1962. Carrie made her home in Sleepy Eye until 2002. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, the Ladies Aid and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Pinochle, watching birds, gardening and reading. Survivors include her children, Alvin (Angie) Schenk of Belgrade, Mary Ann (Richard) Schroeder of Springfield, Ruth (Eldon) Hartwigsen of Bricelyn and Linda (Dennis) Whitney of Delavan, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and brother, Victor (Dorothy) Christiansen of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ervin, son, Ervin Schenk, Jr, sister, Elaine Ladd, brother, Jens Christiansen and granddaughter, Heather Wolcott.
