Caroline Tiny Jane (Rockwood) Gardner was born on August 27, 1935 in Cushing, MN to Royal and Martha Irene (Skeesick) Rockwood. Caroline grew up in Janesville, IA where she attended school and graduated from Janesville High School in 1954. On August 11, 1960 she and her husband John Alvin Gardner were united in marriage at the Church of Christ in Goshen, IN. Caroline and John fist lived in Fowler, IN until the desire to be closer to family lead the couple to Truman, MN where they made their home for more than 40 years. It was after the death of her husband, that Caroline moved to Madelia to be closer to her family. She will be remembered for her talent in decorating, and for the beautiful garden that she maintained. Watching the birds that would grace her garden were one of the things Caroline enjoyed, as well as following college basketball, and most importantly, spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory include her children; son, Michael (Lori) Carpenter of Thief River Falls, MN; daughters, Rena (Jeffrey) Gillman of New Brighton, MN, and Peggy (Roger) Pederson of Madelia, MN; sister, Shirley Boots (Richard) Hennis of Lewisville, MN; grandchildren, Daniel, Beth, Chris, Matthew, Calista, Gustus, Derek, and Nathan; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Ben (Karen) Hoppe of Fairmont, MN, and Marnie (Todd) Ahlbrecht of Gibbon, MN; along with other relatives and friends. Caroline was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Royal and Irene, and grandson, Matthew Gillman.
