Carolyn (Carol) Fast was born July 8, 1946, and went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Savior, October 18, 2021. Carol grew up in St. James, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred and Elsie Marth. She attended the Lutheran Parochial school and graduated in 1964 from St. James High School. Carol married William (Bill) Fast on July 18th, 1964, in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Mt. Lake, MN. While attending marriage classes Carol accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Both Carol and Bill became members of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in 1968 and were baptized later that same year. Carol's love for her husband was shown by many public displays of affection that embarrassed their growing kids. Her adult children remember her and dad driving together in a pickup truck with mom sitting in the middle seat next to dad. She was quick to forgive and always ready to make her husband his favorite dishes. As a newly married couple they rented a farm northeast of Butterfield. Carol worked at Tony Downs in St. James, MN for a short while after they first married. In 1969 they purchased a small dairy farm southwest of Butterfield. During this time Carol was a homemaker while on the farm. When they sold the cows and rented out the farmland, she then worked in the floor sanding business with her husband. In 2004, Carol and Bill moved into Butterfield. Carol also worked many years at Gladcorn in Mt. Lake, MN. We remember our wife, mom, and grandmother for her warm hugs and beautiful smile. Old and new friends knew Carol by how she made them feel welcome by her greeting. She loved entertaining company or heading out to meet the coffee group. Many of us were blessed with a gift of a doily she made or one of her creative bird feeders. She enjoyed collecting Blue Ridge plates and pomanders. The daughters are pretty sure their mom had no idea how much she collected as evidenced by the undisturbed boxes of these precious collectables. Carol also enjoyed playing games on her computer and crocheting tablecloths. Her and Bill sang many duets for funeral, weddings, church services and social gatherings. Carol's faith was first and foremost in her life. Her most treasured memories as a mom and grandma are when one-by-one her children and grandchildren made the choice of eternal salvation. Carol would not write in her Bible but she believed in the power of the spoken word as she would read her Bible out loud as this helped her to understand. Carol is survived by husband William (Bill) Fast, children Mary (Tim Larson), William Jr (Susan) Fast, Suzanne (Tim Herstad), and Connie (Scott Smith). Grandchildren: Trevor and Chris Larson; William, Roger, Charlotte, Susie, Raesha, and Seth Fast: Alex, Jaden, and Hunter Herstad; Caitlyn (Jaxon Clanton), Zoey (Bren Toutges), and Daniel Smith. She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Elsie Marth, sisters Nancy Friesen, Gloria Vaughn, Orlean Amundson, Janel Billings; and brothers Wayne Marth and Richard Marth.
