Carole Rae Martens, 80, of New Ulm, MN passed away on February 23, 2018 at the Sleepy Eye Care Center. Carole Rae Eichinger was born in Slayton, MN to Erma (Knee) Eichinger and George Ralph Eichinger on February 1, 1938. She graduated from Slayton High School. She went on to earn a degree as a Registered Nurse from St Gabriel's Hospital School of Nursing in Little Falls, MN. Carole married Cliff Martens in Washington state and they made their home in Pipestone, Fort Dodge, IA, Rice Lake, WI, Eau Claire, WI and Redwood Falls, MN over the years. She worked as an RN for Dr Keyes of Pipestone and later at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls for over 30 years. Carole enjoyed reading, crocheting, working on crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Carole is survived by her children Becky (Todd) Tish, Sherburn, MN; Cliff (Becky) Martens, Jr, Norwood/Young America, MN; Jim (Patti Guenther) Martens, Nicollet, MN. Grandchildren Jason (Christy) Martens, Heather (Andy) Erickson, Cody (Allison Barkela) Martens, David Martens, Ben Tish, Amanda Martens, Jenny Martens, Bailey Tish, Emma Tish. Great Grandchildren Alex, Eli, Greyson, Clara and Erin. Sisters DeEtte Fenske and Rita Capps. Brother Jim (Connie) Eichinger. Sisters in law Geraldine Carmody and Karen Eichinger. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carole is preceded in death by her husband Clifford Martens, Sr, an infant child and an infant son Joseph Martens, her mother Erma Eichinger, brothers William Eichinger, Jerry Eichinger and David Eichinger, her father in law and mother in law John and Louise Martens, brother in law John Martens, Jr, sisters in law Delores Stebritz and Joann Martens, brother in law George Carmody. Memorial donations may be made to Children's Cancer Research Fund in Carole's memory and in honor of her great grandson Eli who is battling leukemia.
