Carol Lee Sizer, age 67, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis. She was born December 30, 1950 in New Rochelle, NY to Arthur Roland and Judith (Butler) Cummings and baptized at Trinity Saint Paul Church in New Rochelle, NY on February 11, 1951. She spent the first 19 years of her life in the Philippines. Carol graduated from St. Marys School in Sewanee, TN in 1968 and went on to attend Wesleyan College in Macon, GA and furthered her education at the University of Connecticut - Stamford, CT. Carol met her beloved husband, Gregory Allan Sizer, while attending college in GA and they were married upon his return from Vietnam on July 28, 1972 in Darien, CT. They set up residence in St. James, MN in August 1972 and enjoyed 42 years together. Carol was extremely loving and proud of their four daughters and son-in-laws: Heather (Jason) Niemeier of Madison Lake, MN, Dawn (Ryan) Eberhart of St. Peter, MN, Samantha (Aaron) Paris of St. James, MN, and Tiffany Sizer (special friend Tony Leonard) of Strandburg, SD - and their four grandchildren: Alexandra and Allan Eberhart, Devyn Paris, and the anticipated arrival in late August of Silas Leonard. Carol is also survived by her mother, Judith (Butler) Cummings of Glen Allen, VA, one brother Arthur (Deborah) Cummings of Glen Allen, VA, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother (Robert Cummings of Glen Allen, VA), father, mother and father-in-law, aunts, uncles, and two grandnieces. Carol worked as an engineering secretary, executive secretary, insurance agent, computer programmer, accounts payable/receivable, and rental property manager. She was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, volunteered as a parent helper at the St. James elementary school, taught Sunday School, was a Girl Scout Assistant Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother, and served on the Board of Directors of Childs Time. She and her husband donated to many charities and wildlife causes and in her later years donated afghans to the annual Mitch Carlson Memorial Dart Tournament, crocheted layettes to Lutheran World Relief (including 474 beanies, 146 pairs of booties, and 105 baby afghans), and countless full size afghans to The REACH youth drop-in center and CADA House both in Mankato, MN. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cross-stitching, doing crossword puzzles, reading, bird watching, collecting antiques, gardening, hosting on-line spades tournaments, and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is best remembered for her sense of humor, memory of an elephant, protectiveness, kindness, generosity, and selflessness.
